A Suburb of Older Homes, Townhouses and Light Commercial Sites
Panmure has one of the longer histories in the east of Auckland, with a settlement dating back to the nineteenth century at the Tamaki River crossing. Today it is a varied place, with older villas and 1950s homes near the village, townhouse and apartment developments around the station and a good number of light industrial and commercial sites on its edges.
That mix means we do a wide range of concrete work in the same neighbourhood. A single-house driveway replacement might be one day’s job, while a commercial yard or loading area is a different scale, with heavier loads, larger volumes and tighter timeframes. We assess each site on its own requirements, whether that is a domestic drive or a hardstand that will carry trucks.
Garages and workshops are a regular request in older Panmure homes, where original garage floors have cracked, sunk or stained over the years. We can break out a failed floor and pour a new slab, with a proper base, reinforcing and falls to a door or drain. A new slab can transform a garage into a usable workshop or storage area.
For townhouse developments and small commercial properties, we coordinate access and timing so that residents and staff can still use the site. We schedule noisy or obstructive stages for the least disruptive times and keep the site safe and tidy for everyone using it.
Panmure Basin, the Lagoon and Drainage on Low and Volcanic Ground
The Panmure Basin is an old volcanic crater filled with water, and the land around it, together with the lagoon and the Tamaki River, shapes the ground conditions in the suburb. Some sections are on volcanic soils and others on lower, wetter ground close to the water, and the difference matters for how concrete is prepared and drained.
On low-lying sites, the main risk is standing water. Slabs on saturated ground can sink or crack, and driveways without proper falls collect puddles. We build up a compacted base, set the falls toward an outlet and, if the site has nowhere for water to go, we plan drains or regrading before pouring.
Volcanic soils and scoria behave differently from clay, with a more open structure that drains faster but can be variable. We dig and test the pour area and adjust the base to suit, as one common specification cannot cover every part of Panmure. Our aim is to prepare each site on its merits, not on assumptions.
Commercial and industrial sites near the river and the basin may also have requirements around stormwater and run-off. We work to the site’s drainage plans and make sure that new hardstand and loading areas direct water as intended, so the job meets site requirements and does not create problems for neighbours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Got Any Questions? Read Our FAQ
Thinking about concrete work at a Panmure property? These are the questions we hear most from Panmure homeowners, answered plainly.
If your question is specific to your section, your access or your budget, contact us and one of our team will talk it through with you.
Can you replace a cracked garage floor in Panmure?
Yes. We break out the old slab, prepare a new base and pour a reinforced floor with falls to the door or a drain.
Do you do concrete hardstand for light commercial sites?
Yes. We pour yards, loading areas and parking to suit the loads and drainage plans, with timing arranged around your operations.
How do you deal with standing water on a low section near the basin?
We improve the base, set falls to an outlet and add drains where needed, so water leaves the slab instead of sitting on it.
How thick should a concrete slab be for a workshop?
Thickness depends on what will sit on the slab and the ground beneath it. Heavier machinery or vehicles need a thicker, more heavily reinforced slab than light storage.
Can you pour concrete around existing services or pipes?
Yes. We locate the services first, protect them and plan the pour so that access to pipes and covers is kept where it is needed.

We are so glad we found Ash from Auckland Pathways for our dig, level, and pile hole drill domestic job. His skill and accuracy as an operator was outstanding in a very limited and difficult space. The job turned out brilliantly. More than that I was most impressed by his attitude, communication and care in all that he did. From the first contact Ash was helpful, clear and informative. He turned up on time as promised and respected the surrounding properties so well (very important to us as we were accessing our site dig through our neighbour’s property. Ash is a great guy and I would use him again anytime I needed earthworks done. I highly recommend him - especially when you want a precise, quality job done by someone with an attitude and values that match his skill. I wish him well with his business!Posted on Google![]()

Can not recommend highly enough. We had Ash come out and excavate an area in our front yard (including a large stump) to make more useable space, and prepare for rebuilding our retaining. Right from the first visit Ash was a consummate professional, offered his opinion on how best to deal with the job and once he got started his experience shone. Ash is an operator with exceptional skill. His grading and levelling work is as good as it gets and his efficiency in the machine is a pleasure to witness. If you are looking for a team that knows what they are doing and get it done right, look no further.Posted on Google![]()

Ash and his team came out to my residential driveway which was 25 metres and sorted the whole thing for me and was very prompt with his contact and service. Very happy with the service would 5/5 recommend to anyone thinking of doing a renovation or repair asphalt or concrete.
